This was the last and the largest of a series of black colored pencil drawings I did between 1976 and 1978 based on black and white family album photos of my childhood years in the late 1940's and early 1950's. (Please forgive the poor quality of this photo of the drawing.) This particular drawing was inspired by the family groups in the photography exhibition "Family of Man" organized by Edward Steichen at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1955. From the late 1970's on I continued to work a lot with colored pencil in full color. The above drawings are some of my more recent work in this medium.
